Elkhart Open House Week may become dominant RV show

RV Capital Talk covers all the goings-on in Elkhart, Indiana, and for good reason: it is undoubtedly the center of the RV industry. However, for one week per year, the industry attention shifts to Louisville, Kentucky, when the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association hosts their annual trade show.

Yet WNDU in South Bend reports that Elkhart may soon hold the attention year round. This year's 4th Annual RV Open House Week has drawn the attention of the few major RV manufacturers that are not located in Elkhart. In the previous three years, the manufacturers would open their doors and preview new models for dealers and other industry insiders. However, the event will now feature RV manufacturers from around the world, making it similar to a full-fledged RV convention.

In a few years, some are saying that the event could begin to rival the annual trade show in Louisville.

"It's getting more and more comparable to Louisville," Joe Murray of Roadtrek told the news source. "I think we're going to, we may see some transition where dealers are going to stop going to Louisville and come here in place."

Time will tell if there's room enough for two major shows on the RV industry calendar or if one will dominate in the future.
