Solar power has been around for a long time, but it hasn’t always been a practical solution to many of our power needs, including powering your RV. Recent advancements have led to you being able to taking your power from wherever the sun may shine.

What Can Solar Panels Power?

Solar panels can make around 100 watts at a time, however a microwave can use anywhere from 500-1,000 watts at a time according to Phil. So how can solar power benefit you as an RV enthusiast? The answer is that solar panels to just send power directly to the device that requires them. Instead, solar panels send their energy to the battery that you unit is powered from. This supplements the power you are already using. As Phil notes for this to work to your upmost advantage you must look at how many watts you are using during the day and compare that number to how many watts you’re solar panels are feeding into your batteries.

There are also smaller solar panels that can charge your small electronic devices directly. All that being said Solar panels can help power anything in your RV as long as you are watching your wattage. Have questions? Phil May is the man with the answers on this GadgetPlex!
