Arizona attracts RVers all year round, but many especially like to make trips to the Southwest in the winter time. Known as “snowbirds,” these drivers tend to avoid the cold weather of the northern states and look for warmer climates, and its something that RV campground owners in Arizona have been benefiting from for years.
This year, owners throughout Arizona are starting to see an uptick in reservations, even if its only marginal. Nearly no owners are reporting a decrease in reservations, and most say that they’re seeing anywhere from a 1 to 3 percent rise in interest this winter.
“I think that, if anything, we see a little comeback in the economy. Even 1 or 2 percentage points is a little bit of a boost in the economy,” said Jo Ann Mickelson, executive director of the Arizona Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds and a campground owner herself. I’m having lots of reservations and inquiries coming in every day now. That’s a good sign. That’s what we want.”
